Born on 28th, 1978, in Springfield, Ohio, John “Legend” Roger Stephens is a renowned American singer, songwriter, and actor. Legend’s talent in singing and playing the piano was discovered at a tender age. At the age of four, he precipitated in the church choir and had mastered the art of playing piano at the age of seven. Prior to the release of his debut album, Legend had collaborated with various artists including; Kanye West, Alicia Keys, and Jay-Z. In December 2004, Legend released his debut album,” Get Lifted”, under GOOD Music, Inc. The album that featured Dave Tozer, Kanye West, and will.i.am sold 116,000 copies in the first week of its release, and debuted on the US Billboard 200 at number 7. The album was gold certified by the RIAA, selling 540,300 copies in the United States. On the international scene, the album peaked within the top ten in Sweden and the Netherlands, and number one on the Norwegian Albums Chart. “Get Lifted” won the Grammy Award for the Best R&B album in 2006, selling 850,000 copies worldwide. John Legend released his second album dubbed, “Once Again”, released in October 2006. The album received a major commercial success debuting on top of the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, reaching number three on the Billboard 200. RIAA platinum certified it and reached the gold status in the United Kingdom, Italy, and the Netherlands. The song “Heaven” was awarded the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance at the 2007 Grammy Awards ceremony. “Evolver”, “Love in the Future”, “Darkness and Light”, released in 2008, 2013, and 2016 are Legend’s additional albums.
